AIM FOR ZERO

With growing challenges for livestock worldwide, sustainable farming has become mandatory. Due to environmental and social issues, medicated zinc–and antibiotics–around weaning is under global pressure.  The Aim For Zero program by Earlyfeed offers an innovative total approach to help farmers and feed mills in the battle against diseases, such as E.coli, in piglets.

The Aim for Zero program

To help piglets facing suboptimal health, Earlyfeed developed the Aim For Zero program. This 3-in-1 program combines farm management support and feed formulation with innovative nutritional health solutions.

1. Farm management practices

Piglets face multiple simultaneous stressors around weaning. There are environmental changes—separation from the sow, climate, mixing of litters–and dietary changes–no access to milk, new diet, water supply. These stressors negatively impact the health and efficacy of piglets. Therefore, Earlyfeed’s farm management support team is happy to be your sparring partner by sharing proven on-farm management practices.

2. Feed Formulation

Adapted feed formulation is the second crucial element in the Aim For Zero program. Our team of nutritionists is eager to share with you the latest insights on feed composition, such as protein and fiber levels, as well as additional science-based solutions. Moreover, they will translate insights into your existing formulas and adapt them to your local situation.

Therefore the Earlyfeed’s farm management team is happy to be your sparring partner for sharing know-how on farm management practices.

3. Nutritional health solutions

Next to farm management support and feed formulation, Earlyfeed provides innovative nutritional health solutions.  START+ stimulates piglet gut and immune development. Based on specific galacto-oligosaccharides (GOS) that mimic the function of human milk oligosaccharides, these natural structures are similar to the porcine milk oligosaccharides provided by the sow. So, even when piglets do not receive enough colostrum or milk, they can still get a head start.

Furthermore, Earlyfeed implements Vitazero® to create an exogenous defense shield. This innovative functional feed ingredient supports the exogenous defense mechanism through a 4-in-1 concept:

  • Kill incoming pathogens
  • Capture existing paghogens
  • Protect againts endotoxins
  • Fortify the gut barrier

With this 4-in-1 mode of action, Vitazero® supports gut health by avoiding the activation of an immune response. This spares protein and energy for growth, resulting in lower mortality and antibiotic use.

Main benefits
of
Aim for Zero

Successfully implementing the Aim For Zero program creates a balance between health and performance, generating benefits for piglets, people, and the planet.

Piglets

Advantageous effect on gut microbiota leads to improved feed intake, resulting in more resilient piglets. No medicated zinc means no accumulation of heavy metals in vital organs such as the liver and the kidneys.

People

Antibiotic resistance is projected to be one of the biggest threats to human health and can become the number one cause of death by 2050 if no action is taken.

The Aim For Zero Program contributes to reduced antibiotic use by providing farmers an economically favorable alternative for medicated zinc and antibiotics.

Planet

Excluding medicated zinc in piglet feed   will lead to less pollution of heavy metals in the soil and crops.
